And, of course, Fox is teetering on the brink of cancelling it. Firefly being placed in a new timeslot for December. Its ratings aren't bad, really, but they're not as high as the Fox execs want them to be. If things don't improve, Firefly will die before finishing its first season.
So, to do my part to promote the show, I'm having a Firefly Marathon Party at my place this Saturday, December 7, from 11:00AM to 10:00PM. We will watch all the Firefly eps, including the unaired 2 hour pilot (yes, Fox execs made Joss skip straight to the second ep because the pilot is a bit slow, but it's REALLY good). That's 10 45-minute episodes of Firefly, back to back, with about 10 to 15 minutes between each one, plus a lunch break. Food can be potluck, or we can all chip in for pizza and drinks or something.
I have all the eps as AVI or MPG files on my PC and we will be watching the eps on a standard 17 inch monitor (I know, it's small, but it's all I have). If someone has a 20+ inch monitor (or a TV video card with composite out!) that they wouldn't mind lugging over here for the event, that would rock. :-)
I'm in north central Austin. If you're interested in attending, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with your intentions and I'll forward you directions and/or a map.
