HEY. I wanted to mention here that on the Browncoat's website (click on JOIN THE BROWNCOATS on the website they've just put up a new challenge, as well as announced a gathering at Universal Studios lot on August 17th at 5pm for fans. They're collecting testimonials! The gathering is to tape Firefly fans gushing about everything they love about Firefly, Joss, as well as how they began watching Firefly in the first place. Note, you do seem to have to be a member of the website in order to participate.

Taken from the announcements on the website:

For any lucky Browncoats who are in the Southern California region (or who can get here), Universal Pictures would like to invite you to come to the Universal Studios lot this Wednesday, August 17th, where you will have the opportunity to be filmed talking about what makes Firefly, Joss Whedon and the Serenity 'verse so shiny. These testimonials will be used in a promotional campaign for the film, so you will be taking part in spreading the word about the BDM! Filming will take place between 5-10 pm, and if you are under 18, you must be accompanied by a parent. If you are able to come to the Universal Studios lot this Wednesday, August 17 on or around 5:00 PM , please email Serenity Leader with the subject “Testimonials” for more information.

The challenge is about the same, though for all of those people not living in Southern California. The challenge is either 10000 words or a video of yourself answering this:

Let us know what makes you a Browncoat. Submit a written testimonial and your work may end up being used to help promote Serenity! When putting together your testimonials please keep the following questions in mind: What unique aspects of the Firefly/Serenity ‘verse captivate your imagination? How did you become a Browncoat; were you a fan from the beginning when it first aired, or were the DVDs passed along to you later? What introduced you to the Firefly/Serenity ‘verse, what made you watch your first episode? Are you a fan of science fiction? If so how does Firefly/Serenity fulfill your sci-fi expectations? What is distinctive about Joss’ writing and characterization - how does he set himself apart from other writers in the sci-fi genre? If you don’t generally like sci-fi, what makes you a fan of Firefly/Serenity? What is it about these characters that makes you care about them? What is unique, real or compelling about Joss' vision of the future? (Limit one submission per member)

I know that most of the challenges there aren't of much concern to this community, but also I know that many people here were introduced to Firefly in incredibly unique ways. As well, I'm sure many of you would get a thrill out of seeing your testimonial being used as Serenity promotional material. Again, you do have to create a free account there in order to participate.
