How much is that Geisha in the window?

On a sort of a whim, I threw together a silly little icon from the extended gag reel. Feel free to use . . freely. I've never been the sort to get worked up over credit, as the image wasn't originally mine. If ever I come up with my own amazing television show, then I'll start demanding credit. Spread the love, you can't stop the signal.

Its taken from the part of the extended gag reel where Nathan and Gina turn to face the camera and sing an amazing rendition of "How Much is that Geisha in the Window?" I wish it could be smoother -- damn you LJ filesize restrictions!

Oh, x-posted to ff_icons, too.

Further goodies from the BBC

Hi all,

further to my previous post about a glowing BBC review of Serenity, here's some more...(yes, I am addicted to the BBC, why do you ask?)

BBC radio interview with Joss

An interview with Joss Whedon from last night's BBC World Service arts programme. Joss mentions the influence of Star Wars on the show & the movie, discusses Zoe's character a bit, & talks about Wonderwoman.

You can listen to the interview here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/programmes/the_ticket.shtml. Click on 'listen', and skip forward to about 26 minutes through the programme (just after the news summary). The link should be valid for the next week or so.

There is also a written summary of the interview:

BBC website review of Serenity

Here's the BBC's 4-star review: http://www.bbc.co.uk/films/2005/09/26/serenity_2005_review.shtml. WARNING: review contains some mild spoilers!

You can rate the film yourself, and post comments...unsurprisingly, the votes are almost 100% 5-star ratings, and the comments are rather gushing.

I went to see the movie again last night, 24 hours after seeing it the first time. I spent the intervening day (no, I don't have a thesis to write, not at all...) joining this community and others, and reading back through lots of intelligent discussion and speculation. Seeing it again with all these points fresh in my mind was well worth it!

I went with a bunch of friends who are all Tolkien fanatics. Only one of them had seen Firefly, and that was just the pilot. He enjoyed it, and intends to go back & watch the series. The others seemed reasonably positive, but perhaps a little bewildered.

Bad News

Guys I have some bad news. According to IMDB, Serenity made 9th place at the BO. :(

It only made 4.9 million so far this weekend and it's total gross is 17.6 million.

I don't know what number we were aiming for but I'm sure that's not it.

Does anyone know how much money it has to make for sequels or a new show to be made?

More pics!

I added a few pics (HQ) at my website today: Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk, Adam Baldwin, Gina Torres (with Laurence), Jewel... and some other celebrities :)

I split up my Extras page - when you first get to it, that's where all my TV/movie images are, I also made a page for High Quality Celebrity Images, this is where you'll find most of my new pics (though I do have one new HQ image of Jayne on the Extras main page).

Enjoy!

~Cassie

PS: I saw in the previous post that "Serenity" didn't do so well over this weekend :( I'm still going to remain hopeful that we'll get a sequel, the movie was too good not to get one. Keep spreading the word about the movie, I know I've convinced non-Browncoats to see the movie this weekend, and they loved it. Our love will keep us flying.

FireflyMUX

Incorporating all of the canon elements from the very beginning of "Firefly" to the end of the feature film "Serenity", FireflyMUX is set shortly after the events of the film occurred. From this point on, it's all new! We aim for a strong backbone of that canon flavour we know and love. FireflyMUX is a realistic roleplay reflection of the "Firefly" theme as created by the one and only Joss Whedon; as such, we strive to fit into his vision as best we can. Of course, there's plenty of room for originality - it's a big universe!

As of October 10th, our doors will be open and we'll be accepting applications! We've revised our theme to incluce Serenity as canon and we're picking up shortly after its events. We have lots of fun stuff in store and don't plan on slowing down any time soon, so check us out - whether you're returning players or it's your first time!

As always, if you have questions regarding any aspect of FireflyMUX, whether it be on theme, roleplay, application, or anything in between, feel free to log on and ask a staff member once we open. If you're fuzzy on how to connect, or have no idea what a MUX is, be sure to check out http://vega.dyndns.org/~fireflymux/howto.html - and again, ask if you have any questions!

We hope to see you soon!

Summer Glau was featured on IMDB today. At the bottom of the page you'll see "Please Meet Summer Glau", and so they go on to mention her role as "the mysterious River", Joss, Serenity...and then it turns into an advertisement for headshots. Haha.

Ah, IMDB.

Edit: Sorry, just realized that this had been posted not long ago already. (But I'll leave it up here for anyone who hadn't seen said post.)
