It got Fox'd

there's some controversey over the selection of the word plutoed being selected as word of the year by the American Dialect Society. I agree that the word of the year should be a word that's in actual useage. But there's some truthiness to this selection, in that it "feels" right, it sounds like a great word to describe that situation. But ultimately it's not based on facts i.e. people don't use that word, I mean I don't. Have you? have you ever heard someone else you it that way? Didn't think so.

But in the digg.com discussion someone submitted the following, which I wholeheartedly agree with, and shall try to use from now on.

v. FOXed, FOX'ed

Slang The act of canceling a show within a short time span (anything under a half season, especially if within 3 or 4 episodes). Named after the FOX television network, well known for such practices.

Example: Damn it, they FOXed "Firefly".
