new Firefly/Serenity game on LJ

'Verse: Joss Whedon's Firefly/Serenity
System: Serenity Role Playing Game
Venue: LiveJournal, in spacewestern
Characters: Original; although a few canon characters may be alluded to or stumbled upon in the course of gameplay, our aim is to have fun playing our own flawed but lovable characters in Serenity's 'verse.

This game's so new, we haven't all generated characters yet. But even once things get going with the first batch of interested parties, there will always be room for expansion. Always. When I went looking for a game to join, there weren't any quite like the one I'm setting up. What I'm aiming for is what I wanted: original characters, online play, open. Maybe that's not a big niche, but it's the one I aim to occupy with spacewestern.

Serenity on Rotten Tomatoes Sci-Fi List

Rotten Tomatoes recently put out a list of their 100 Best-Reviewed Sci-Fi Movies. Our BDM made a mildly disappointing Number 48, but at least it's solidly on there! Also, look at the banners--Mal's visage sits so comfortably among Neo, the Terminator, Robo Cop, Darth Vader, and other classic figures. The "Critical Consensus" presented may not get all the way to the heart of why we love Serenity, but hooray for recognition!

Booster Entertainment Notice of Sale / Potential eBay Items

Just got an interesting letter from the US Bankruptcy Court regarding the Booster Entertainment case (the organizers of the failed Flanvention). Here's the relevant excerpt (bold added by me):
On July 27, 2007, or as soon thereafter as the transaction may be completed, the undersigned trustee of the estate of the debtor(s) named above will sell property of the estate as follows:

Miscellaneous assets including, but not limited to, autographed and non-autographed actor photos; autographed script covers and memory books, banners; Serenity prints (numbered and signed by actors and/or artist); "Lorne" character doll; and walkie-talkies, with a scheduled value of $17,060; will be sold to the highest bidder by one ore more auctions on e-bay or possibly other suitable auction venues on or after July 27, 2007.
That's followed by a bunch more legalese. No word on what eBay account will be used to host the auctions.
