What is Zoe's name?
Okay. Thanks to the movie, we now know for a fact that Wash's full name is Hoban Washburne. So what's Zoe's name? Variations I've seen:
  • Zoe Warren (IMDB)
  • Zoe Washburn (by extension from the movie)
  • Zoe Alleyne (sp?) (from the Visual Companion)
Given the fact that "Alleyne" is mentioned in one of Whedon's "mee-moes" as Zoe's name in the war, I think we can take it as canon that that's her maiden name, at least. So she's either Washburne or Alleyne. Not sure where "Warren" came from.

Okay, guess it's not much of a question. Still.

I think Warren came from an early rumored name for Wash - That his name was 'Wash' Warren.

Could be wrong, though.

I always thought that her name was Warren....

But it took me till the end of the series to realize 'Wash' wasn't Wash's name >D;;

I guess, I would go with Warren.

Alleyne is her maiden name. Washburn is her married name and Warren was what Wash's LAST name was originally going to be.

It's Zoe Alleyne Washburn. And Alleyne is spelled right. It's my name. Alleyne was, as you said, her maiden name, then when she married Wash, she took his name

Yeah, that one is right. Isn't Washburn spelled with an 'e' at the end, though? That's how I've been spelling it x_x;

Yeah, I thougt it had an e too. I'm just lazy.

I'm curious: how do you pronounce "Alleyne"?

I am also curious of this!
My name is Alina, and it's pronounced 'Uh-Lee-Nuh', and I can see where Alleyne could be similar. Maybe 'Uh-LANE' And that makes me fuzzy. Not as fuzzy as Alleyne ACTUALLY being my name, like you, but. Yes.

Like... Uh-Lee-Ne. Like... The N sound in No. It's just an N sound.

I've seen Zoe Alleyne Washburne the most frequently.

I'm actually glad someone brought this up. I'd felt like quite the dork wondering about it, but knowing other people have to make me feel better!! ;)

If you check the screensaver that they have on the official site (though there are a lot of mistakes throughout the site concerning Zoe and Wash), the name for Wash listed on -that- is Jerry Lee Warren.

I think that Jerry Lee Warren was Wash's rumored name before Firefly actually aired, or at least someone claimed they'd seen it in an article or something.

At any rate, it'd explain why people thought Zoe's last name was Warren, if Wash's real name was Jerry Lee Warren.

I'm happy with Zoe Alleyne Washburne and Hoban Washburne.

As much as I love IMDB, it's quite often inaccurate.
